ComeDrumForFun is a small community of hand drummers who love to learn, play and celebrate West African rhythms on traditional West African Instruments. Newcomers are always warmly welcomed.
Hand drumming on the djembe is a fun, relaxing-yet-energizing, happy-making activity that anyone can enjoy without having any musical knowledge or skills whatsoever. We can prove it to you - just come and try it out! Read what students have said about the experience...
Many of us have been meeting weekly in private studio in South Austin for the past several years. We drum because it feels good, and we love to share our rhythm bliss all around Austin and surrounding areas. We've given around 150 public performances and the bookings keep coming.
We Drum for Good! We mainly give free performances at worthy cause events, but when we do get paid or receive tips, we donate all the proceeds to help others. Read more about it Here!
We're a diverse group, from many walks of life - young adults and not-so-young ones - all held together by the joys of rhythm and friendship.
And then, of course, there are the parties... great food and merriment.....mmmm...
